A Statement by KRG regarding the recent airstrikes against militia groups

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government in a statement today rejected allegations of KRG involvement in US airstrikes against militia groups on Monday.

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Spokesperson responded as follows:

“In recent days, an official from the Kataib Seyid al-Shuhada militia group by the name of Ahmed al-Maksus claimed that the aircraft used by the US to attack the militia had taken off from Erbil International Airport.

“We deny such baseless accusations. The attacks carried out on Erbil were conducted by outlaw groups, and such statements now give off a bad message. Any other attack on Erbil will put doubt on Ahmad al-Maksus’s party and the like, for this is an early excuse for targeting Erbil.”
